A Message from Dr. Powell about COVID-19

Patients scheduled

Monday, March 16th- Friday, March 20th 2020

First, I want to thank all of you for being so understanding as we all try to navigate through this incredibly stressful time. OUR #1 PRIORITY at Powell Pediatric Dentistry is the safety and well being of our patients, their families and our staff. We are committed to keeping you informed of any and all changes that may be happening in our office guidelines and scheduling practices.

I want to make all patients who are currently scheduled during the week of March 16-20 aware of our updated office protocol. As health care providers we feel it is important to be available to our patients. Every day we receive new information from the CDC, ADA, Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH), and the Jefferson County Department of Health. Since the recommendations and information provided to us changes so frequently, we will make modifications as needed.

  1. If your child is scheduled and you do not feel comfortable keeping your appointment, please call our office at 205.538.3335 and our staff will help you find a time in the future to get your child seen.
  2. DO NOT bring anyone to the appointment who is not needed. This means other siblings, family members, and especially the elderly. If you cannot make arrangements for your other children, we recommend that you reschedule your child’s appointment.
  3. We will be taking your child’s temperature before the visit to ensure they do not have an underlying fever. IF YOUR CHILD IS SICK, PLEASE RESCHEDULE THEIR APPOINTMENT (FEVER, COUGH, SORE THROAT or SHORTNESS OF BREATH)
  4. We will do our best to call each child back as soon as we can as to avoid unnecessary waiting.
  5. While your child is being seen, rest assured that we take infection control very seriously. All surfaces, equipment and instruments have been thoroughly cleaned and sterilized (like always) between each patient. Our staff are abiding by all recommendations made by the CDC as to avoid any exposure (like we always do). Our staff has been thoroughly trained in infection control, hand hygiene and the importance of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to call our office at 205.538.3335 or email us.
